Stepping away from the snow for this year's festive painting!

This desert scene captures a quiet, geometric night, featuring sweeping warm dunes and a faceted camel resting before a distant settlement. I wanted to keep the seasonal theme subtle, focusing instead on the atmosphere of the night sky.

I am really enjoying pushing my mixed media work further—for this piece, I layered real gold and silver leaf over the painted canvas to bring a brilliant, reflective gleam to the large star and the moon. It adds a whole new dimension when the light hits it in the studio.
