Farmland

This striking piece, currently hanging in the Newcastle School of Medicine, is a contrast in atmospheres and the passage of time.

Inspired by the rolling landscapes and sturdy farmhouses of the British countryside. On the left, a dense, moody forest is bathed in the cool glow of a crescent moon, while the centre and right of the canvas burst into the vibrant, golden energy of a high-noon sun.

The piece is anchored by a characteristic windy road that snakes through the heart of the valley, leading the viewer past charming farmhouses and clusters of rhythmic, geometric trees. It is a celebration of time passing and the feeling of a warm late summer’s afternoon
