This commission was a true departure for me. Destined for a vibrant pink bathroom, the brief pushed me well beyond my usual colour palette—and that is exactly where the magic happened.

Inspired by the North Shields marina, the piece captures the River Tyne bathed in unexpected hues of pink and purple. It features the iconic old smokehouses, now transformed into modern flats, bridging the gap between the area’s industrial heritage and its modern revival.

 Painted in the summer of 2025, this 100 x 30 cm oil on canvas stands as a unique milestone in my work, proving that stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to the most radiant results.
