Ships and Mountains

This work represents my first exploration into a fractal sky, a technique I developed to capture the rhythmic, crystalline nature of light over the water. The sharp, angular facets of the sky provide a high-energy backdrop for the bold, primary-coloured sailboats and the steady presence of the harbour lighthouse.

The composition is designed to feel both structured and fluid. While the geometric "shards" of the sky create a sense of movement, the grounded greens and reds of the foreground bring a sense of stability to the scene.

To create a truly immersive experience, I hand-painted the frame to mirror the internal gradients of the painting. The deep, grassy greens at the base transition into the celestial blues at the top, allowing the energy of the harbour to extend beyond the canvas and into your living space. This piece remains a milestone in my portfolio, marking the moment I began to play with light in a more architectural, faceted way.
