The long way home
In this vibrant square piece I am using colour to shift a mood. Created as a deliberate antidote to the dullness of winter, it brings the warmth of a sun-drenched landscape into any space.
Painted during the grey, overcast days of the Christmas season, this painting was born from a desire to recapture the intense energy of a late summer sky. It serves as a visual escape, trading winter’s muted tones for a saturated, rhythmic celebration of light and life.
The composition is dominated by the brilliant yellows, deep pinks, and rich purples typical of a high-summer sunset. These hues breathe warmth into the stylised trees and patchwork fields.
From the clustered, colourful treetops to the winding path that leads the eye toward the distant architecture inspired by water towers near my paren't place in the Netherlands. Every inch of the canvas is filled with motion and optimism.
